Embrace

Hold me in the darkness,

The pitch can’t see me fight,

Hold me tight and hold me closely,

Safe from the worrier’s chaos.

Keep me from my worldly fears,

Hasten in your warmth,

Your breath, your touch, your fingers clutch

Around my frame so small.

I’d fought you back,

Hissed your name with bared teeth,

Yet still you didn’t relent,

Your will was strong, it needed to be

To break the soul before you,

To gather her up and stand her tall,

Piece by piece,

Restored, renewed together in fire.

Away from all distraction,

The echoes have been silenced,

What remains just you and I,

Breathing in time.

And as the light invades our calm,

You reach out and draw me in,

As I am yours so I hold you,

Belonging to one another.

Gorgeous. I particularly like “Hold me in the darkness, The pitch can’t see me fight,”
